The Jay Precision® Backrest Upholstery sets a new standard in tension-adjustable backrest upholstery. Unlike other tension-adjustable backrests, the Precision features optional fixed and swing-away laterals, folding stabilizer bar, and headrest. The optional lateral supports and multi-width stabilizer mounts give it adaptability to a wide range of manual and power chairs. This combination of utility and flexibility makes the Jay Precision backrest one of the most advanced upholstery designs available. |

Optional Fixed and Swing-Away Laterals
Optional fixed and swing-away laterals are available with either symmetrical or asymmetrical lateral pads. These lateral options eliminate the need for a fixed backrest when laterals are required on a folding chair, and they provide a flexible adjustment range. |
Folding Headrest and Stabilizer Bar
The Jay Precision Backrest features an optional folding stabilizer-bar and headrest. These features, in combination with the lateral options, provide one of the most extensive backrest-upholstery seating systems available. |
Transit Approved
The Jay Precision backrest option is a transit approved. This is particularly helpful in school districts requiring headrests for wheelchairs used as seats during transportation. If a solid backrest is not necessary, the Jay Precision folding headrest provides an ideal means of addressing this transportation regulation. |
Adaptable Hardware Mounts
The laterals mount onto 7/8"- 1 1/8" backposts, and the stabilizer-bar mounts into 3/4"- 1" push-handle backposts. These adjustable hardware-mounts give the Jay Precision backrest compatibility with a vast majority of wheelchairs. |
The new stabilizer bar features 3" of width adjustment. The 14"- 17" and 17"- 20" stabilizer-bar width range provide growth and the ability to offset the headrest mounting-position (with the exception of the 20" width). |
The backpost covers feature a window and non-window option. The window option provides a mounting area for the laterals, and the non-window option is used when laterals are not required. |
The Jay Precision® backrest upholstery ships in three separate pieces: two backpost covers and a middle section. The advantage of this design is that the upholstery does not limit the range of the adjustment straps. This is because the middle-upholstery velcros to the backpost covers, which provides the necessary adjustment range. |
The stabilizer folding mechanism features a large headrest mounting-surface for maximum stability, double "D" extension tubing to resist twisting, and a large release plunger made of Delron® (a special co-polymer material) for maximum durability over an extended period of time. |
The universal headrest mount can be mounted to the stabilizer bar. This special headrest mounting-plate interfaces with an extended range of headrest products. |
The newer style backpost-covers feature a short upper section and two lower attachment straps. The lower straps make it possible to mount the Jay Precision® backrest on back frames that feature a towel bar. |
